My take on the Surveillance State

I just had the opportunity to see the following video at a blog buddy‘s post:

What are we to do about this? We can do everything with the intent to make this better, but will that produce the policy it takes to reverse the surveillance umbrella that the NSA has erected over the citizens of the United States? This guy – Edward Snowden – is in the news now as the “NSA whistleblower” and in the video he explains why it’s important to be a part of what the NSA is doing and to know what they are doing to watch and record everything we do.

So this 4th of July, while we are celebrating our glorious independence, try not to let where we have arrived distract you from our increasingly ancient and disconnected past; that is, unless you are of the mind to take it back, because if we are not yet in a position to do so we will be soon enough, and if we let it go by without so much as a howdy-do we are likely to lose that opportunity as we fall into “turnkey tyranny”. That being said, we can be grateful to Edward Snowden for revealing this information to the free press, and the best way to do that is to not let that effort go to waste. If you value your liberty, just keep an eye on this story as it progresses.

I know you will do the right thing.
