Have you ever felt like you were holding on for no definable reason?
So if I were to be part of a movie, I think I would direct the movie of my life. I wouldn’t star in it, except for a Stan Lee-style cameo – maybe. Who would I cast as me though? Good question. I get some opinions from time to time; once I was told I resemble Jude Law (or maybe he resembles me?) and I was pretty flattered, but at this point I’d be more liable to use Jonah Hill. We know he makes a convincing fat kid, and we know that he can lose the weight too. Future Rob? Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister of Motörhead. Just saying.
But why wouldn’t I act? I’m not camera shy, and I think I could easily do it, but I’m not really the dramatic type. Some might argue with me, but if they saw what I see some days at work, they’d sing a different tune.
I once said that the way things are going at work, I’d either be the next one to quit or the last sucker standing. Well it seems this morning two guys just up and quit, so I’ll just keep hanging on, thank you very much. I need the pay and the benefits. I keep telling myself it’s going to work out in the long run, that my loyalty will be rewarded at some point in the future, but then again there’s always the chance that some moron will kill himself in a safety incident and then they’ll shut down the whole plant for six months while OSHA crawls every inch of the place – then we’re all looking for new jobs.
But hey – in a world of change, I just want some basic stability. Is that too much to ask?

OSHA… I remember those guys from medical days. How we loved them. Oh, what’s stability? This is new vocabulary for me… is it to do with existentialism?
