An update on balls —

(Photo credit: “Art in the Parked Trains” by Rob Ross)

Previously on Rob’s Surf Report, Clan Ross was on the Summer Surf Adventure: a trip around the Pacific Northwest, to Seattle, Portland, and back. Along the way, we saw the sights, we did the stuff, and I even got to surf.

I’m totally legit now.

Actually, my last two posts were entries to the Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge, and I became disillusioned when I discovered that I am still unable to generate pingbacks on their prompts, which is a means of increasing readership, drawing in new traffic and possibly eliciting some fresh commentary. Why am I disillusioned over a little glitch? Well, this has been going on for some time; I brought it to their attention on several occasions and by more than one method, they claimed to be working on it, but neither has any solution nor follow-up been presented. This last time I left a comment, and they didn’t even respond to me.

At this point, it’s obvious to me that I have been intentionally filtered out for some reason, and instead of working it out with me they chose to “ban” and ignore me instead.

Cowards!

I can’t imagine what it is I may have done to deserve this, but whatever — I’m moving on with my life and my writing.

It’s been almost two weeks since Clan Ross returned from vacation, and I chose to lay back a little; to give myself some time to think — about my habits, my responsibilities, and my attitudes towards life. I was (mostly) on a self-imposed media blackout, and I have come out of it to discover that I’m content and ready to move in any direction I’m required to go. Life is good — legitimately good, and nothing is more important than experiencing the world with a positive mindset.

Meanwhile, I have not been idle. I’ve got a few more balls in the air now (calm down ladies, that’s not how I meant it!) In addition to my current novel project, while mowing the lawn the other weekend I generated what I believe to be a very original story idea. I’ve been working on that in some of my spare time. Also, I started work on the standing desk I’ve been planning to make for the past several months; in fact, this past weekend I got it fully assembled, and my next step is to glue the joints and putty the counterbores over the screws. Then I have the financial recovery from this trip to attend, as well as life, the Universe, and everything in between.

It all moves apace!

In addition, I have been asked to be a guest on a podcast about bloggers; you will hear more about that soon. Between that bit coming in late last night and a gentle nudge by my best blog buddy The Indecisive Eejit, I decided it was time to come back to the screen for another year of madcap blog fun. I promise more haiku, more poetry, more stories and speculation, and even more stuff that might make you think, “is he out of his g.d. mind?”

It’s okay — I wonder about that too. 🙂

The one thing I ask of you, Intrepid Reader, is this: if you enjoy Rob’s Surf Report, please share it. I appreciate any and all tweets, likes, shares, +1s, stumbles, tumbls, and appropriately annotated reblogs. Without your support (not money, just newfangled word-of-mouth) I am a bottle adrift in the ocean, with no place to land and no one to uncork me and discover the secrets written inside.

Until next time, I’ll be right here playing with my balls.

Take that visual and go live your adventure!

😉

  2. roflmao —- okay — glad you posted because I was going to fire you an email and double check on you — later this evening. I figured you were taking a media break – and a much needed time to reflect and think about things — and I’m really glad that you’re deciding to come back and play with us some more. 🙂 🙂 🙂

As for content and your efforts – whatever suits you and works for your time frame, desires and needs. I’m glad you’re making more time to work on your personal (private non-blogging stuff) too — as you say — through the balls into the air and work it bro!

Ahem — since this is a relatively family friendly space, I will kindly withhold any suggestive and dirty-minded metaphors or comments, although, heh – it’s just about killing me 😉

As for WP still not getting the pingback|trackback problem fixed — that is way too weird! Honestly.

As for driving traffic to your space, well man, you’d be asking the wrong person, cause I generate little if any traffic — ultimate “traffic test” —- do what I did — advance notice and all that, and then see how many people actually request follow-ups, or find you through profiles etc. Lol — but, that’s okay, part of my new plan is just working it for me – stats be damned —- but, of course, I will do what I can for you, in my own small ways :0

    Glad your back *home* 🙂

  3. Hiya, Rob ! =) Glad you’re back and you had so many great adventures… also is nice to hear that there are still a lot of irons in the fire, so to speak.

Enjoy your week, looking forward to hearing what is going on in your life, and perhaps seeing a snap of that darling baby on a boogie board ?! =) =)

  4. The blogosphere is a bit brighter today as Rob makes his long awaited reentry into the forum he is known for.

Glad to see you back and looking forward to what you have to say.
